Reddit is following Twitter to join the NFT team as it explores ways to add an NFT profile picture.

Reddit is testing a non-fungible token (NFT) profile photo on its platform, with the news coming just a week or so after Twitter rolled out a similar feature.
The popular social media platform already has around 430 million monthly users by 2021 and is reportedly working on an NFT profile picture implementation that will allow users to set their profile picture to any NFT. which has pictures attached.
In an interview with TechCrunch on Thursday, Reddit spokesperson Tim Rathschmidt stated:
“We are always exploring ways to provide value to users and the community on Reddit. Currently, we are testing the ability to use NFT as a profile picture (avatar) and verify ownership”.
“It was a small, internal test, and no decisions have been made about expanding or implementing this capability,” he added.
Earlier in the week, an app developer posted a banner from Reddit promoting the feature, showing that the tests had been enhanced.

Twitter too introduce Last week’s NFT profile photo, available to Twitter Blue subscribers on iOS. However, NFT has recently faced backlash from gamers and Web2 developers. A day after launch, a GitHub contributor shared an automated browser extension unit The Twitter account uses an NFT profile picture.
Reddit has been experimenting with various initiatives around the NFT for a while now. It even set up a page for NFT-related activities at nft.reddit.com.
In May 2020, the company introduces crypto tokens to the r/Cryptocurrency and r/Fortnite communities. Those tokens are called MOON and BRICK and are based on Ethereum standards.
