Some OpenSea users heeding OpenSea’s call to call their inactive listings ended up losing their NFTs and funds.

News
Twitter users reacted negatively to an OpenSea email sent to users who still had inactive lists on their accounts. In the email, OpenSea explained that the old listing of NFTs is still possible and that users should cancel because OpenSea cannot cancel them on their behalf. They claim this will “prevent any of your items from being sold at the inactive list price” due to the falling Ethereum (ETH) price.
According to NFT collector @dingalingts and other users, this warning has the opposite effect and unlisting will eventually regenerate the order. @Dingalingts tweeted a thread urging users to “FIRST move your NFT to another address and destroy /lists on the original address BEFORE” destroy them.
1/ WARNING: DO NOT CANCEL LIST YOUR OPERATING SYSTEM AS STATISTICS IN THE EMAIL THAT OPENSEA IS SENDED ONLY
First move your NFT to another address and cancel/lists on the original address BEFORE sending it back
The operating system just puts people at more risk than before

He cites another user @swolfchan.eth, who claimed he lost at least 15 ETH. After the cancellation of the Mutant Ape Yacht Club listing, it was resold for 6 ETH but someone waiting in the ETH mempool ended up selling the NFT in the same block by running before the cancellation.
So I received two emails today from @opensea about the listing and lost 15 ETH+ from exactly what they were trying to prevent…
I have been asked to please take urgent action to cancel any inactive listings…cancelled MAYC 15 ETH @BoredApeYC and it activated the listing of 6 ETH… and sold ?? pic.twitter.com/1wt21mt9mz

While some users prefer @roundcatcrypto commented to @ swolfchan.eth “This is yours. Don’t play with your friends because you’re trying to save a few bucks,” others rallied to support him and @dingalingts.
OpenSea co-founder Alex Attalah responded to @swolfchan.eth’s thread, tweeting that they “have a team working and working on countermeasures right now.” @swolfchan.eth followed up and asked if he could expect a refund, but got no response.
