The year 2021 is full of pivotal moments that kickstart and define the development of the crypto industry, increasing global interest in various asset events such as; Bitcoin exceeds $1 trillion in market value and becomes a legal tender in El Salvador; Elon Musk "pushes" the price of Dogecoin; Ethereum upgrade of its system, boom of metaverse and rise of blockchain games.
With many trusted and recognized Altcoins, world map statistics, by Über Holger from Blockchain Center, revealed the preference for searching coins by country.
Bitcoin still dominates, but loses 25% of public interest in a year.
Bitcoin still dominates the crypto space, being the most searched cryptocurrency in every country in 2021, albeit with 59.9% dominance, compared with 80.8 percent last year). The drop in public interest can be attributed to the rise in altcoins trending this year.
Bitcoin is the most searched keyword in El Salvador with 98% of the total searches.
South America is the continent most interested in Bitcoin, while Asia tends to lean more towards Altcoins.
In Ukraine, Vietnam, Japan, Norway, Serbia and the Philippines, Altcoins are more searched than Bitcoin.
Ethereum is the Top Altcoin
The top 3 most searched Altcoins worldwide are Ethereum (13.1%), Dogecoin (7.8%) and XRP (5.5%). While Ethereum is the most dominant of these Altcoins, Dogecoin holds the highest interest by ratings in the US, Ukraine, India, Iran, and Indonesia.
Tron received the most interest in Norway, Denmark, and Vietnam, while XRP was most prominent in East Asia, being the top Altcoin in South Korea, Japan, the Philippines and the second highest in Malaysia, with rankings. ETH is just 0.3% higher.
In the US, Dogecoin is twice as popular as Ethereum with search dominance at 21.2% and 11.9% respectively.
Altcoins ranked 5th – 10th are Tron, Cardano, Solana, Litecoin, Binance Coin and Avalanche. The Top Altcoins of 2020, Bitcoin Cash, IOTA, and Monero, did not make the rankings this year.
Cardano is the most searched cryptocurrency in Europe with 9.9% dominance in Italy, 8.3% in Portugal, 8.2% in the Netherlands, 7.6% in Greece and 6. 9% in Spain.
