
Bitnovo, one of Spain’s leading bitcoin payment platforms, has partnered with Eurocoin, Europe’s leading supplier of electronic components, to install 100 crypto ATMs by 2022.
Spain is the number one country in Europe in terms of the number of Bitcoin ATMs. New installations will also be in third place worldwide (just behind the US and Canada).
In addition to Bitcoin, ATMs not yet installed will support Ethereum (ETH), Tether (USDT), and Monero (XMR).
Eurocoin Corporation, founded in 1973, has offices in six European countries.
CEO Fernando Dumont describes most of the partnerships as a “strategic move” into the crypto industry. He added that cryptocurrencies will coexist with traditional means of payment.
Overall, there are 34,659 crypto ATMs globally, according to data provided by CoinATMRadar, with the majority of them (30,806) installed in the United States, Canada coming in at a close second with 2,261 locations. .
El Salvador takes third place after the government installed 200 ATMs across the country after Bitcoin was accepted by the tropical country as legal tender. Spain is currently 4th, but will most likely take the lead by the end of the year.
In 2019, Spanish law enforcement raised concerns about criminals using Bitcoin ATMs for money laundering purposes.
